A Fire Intumescent Strip is a specially designed fire protection seal installed around the edges of fire-rated doors, frames, or glazed systems. Its primary purpose is to prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and hot gases through the small gaps between the door and frame during a fire.
At normal temperatures, the strip remains inactive and inconspicuous. However, when exposed to high heat (typically around 180°C to 200°C), the intumescent material expands rapidly, filling the gaps and forming a tight barrier that stops flames and smoke from passing through. When a fire occurs, temperatures rise quickly. The intumescent material within the strip reacts to this heat by expanding up to 20 times its original size.
✅ Fire Containment: Expands rapidly to block fire and heat.
✅ Smoke Control: Combined seals prevent early smoke leakage.
✅ Life Safety: Provides extra time for evacuation.
✅ Property Protection: Minimizes fire damage spread.
✅ Easy Installation: Can be installed during door manufacturing or as a retrofit.
