Perimeter seal is a sealing component installed around the edges (the “perimeter”) of an
opening—commonly doors, windows, panels, or enclosure frames—to close gaps and prevent unwanted
transfer of air, water, sound, smoke, dust, insects, or odors. The seal bridges the gap between
a fixed frame (e.g. a door frame, window frame) and a moving or closing element (door leaf,
sash) so that when closed, there is a continuous barrier.
In effect, perimeter seals are an essential part of a building envelope or enclosure system to
maintain integrity, comfort, and performance.
